People, memories and conversations from Karmuwala, in writing and on video.

Memories behind the interviews

Karmuwala’s history lives in the memories of its people. Collected between 2021 and 2025, these written interviews and video conversations bring together residents, farmers, teachers and community figures, along with recollections connecting the village to families overseas.

Contributors recall family homes, farming beside the Beas, wells, school days, religious life and local leadership. Their accounts also touch on Partition, migration and military service. Each interview offers a personal perspective, adding context to the archive’s photographs, maps and family histories.
